It’s along with Ertice, among the main settlements of the Elymians.
Only a few remains of the ancient settlement remain: the ruins of some square towers and a gate of the fortifications.
To visit the temple, remained miraculously intact, periptero hexastyle in pure Doric style that stands solemn and imposing for 2400 years on a hill surrounded by a desert and barren landscape that accentuates the grandeur; the theater, mid-3rd century BC, rises on the summit of Mount Barbaro; the Segestan Baths, already known in Arab times, flow on the banks of the River Caldo and partly inside a cave where a natural sauna was formed. Sulphurous waters are used for baths, sludge and inhalations.
