Home to a trap active until '600, the place was known for the sanctuary of San Vito, built in the sec. XIII on a pre-existing chapel, then expanded in the sec. XVI. Today is a very popular summer seaside resort, with a beautiful and long sandy beach and constantly expanding accommodation equipment. On the territory extends part of the Zingaro Nature Reserve mentioned here.
In September there is every year the renowned Cous Cous Fest, International Festival of cultural integration: an important event that has been renewed for years, involving in its festive atmosphere all the countries of the Euro-Mediterranean area and beyond. The undisputed protagonist of the event is the couscous, a dish rich in history and an element of synthesis between cultures, a symbol of openness, mingling and contamination.
For years, in May, San Vito Lo Capo hosts another colourful event, the International Kite Festival, a festival of creative essence, guided by a common thread, the kite, while in the month of October on the cliffs of the coast takes place a stage of the World Climbing Circuit, but also another event dedicated to all lovers of outdoor sports, the Outdoor Festival.
